Hi I don’t have any interest left in Boxee apps. So there will likely not be any future applications for awhile.
- Wednesday March 17, 2010
two episodes of the series Hikaru no Go appeared in my Hulu queue. They were episodes 33 and 34. I opened Hulu Deskop and clicked play on Episode 33. I watched the commercial. I watched the opening animation. Then something strange happened. The title “Game 32 The Last Day of the Prelims” appeared on my screen instead of “Game 33 We’re a Team!”
So I did what any reasonable person would do. I sent an email to support@hulu.com and posted the problem at http://www.hulu.com/discussions/9 Then I waited.
- Thursday March 18, 2010
I checked my email. Nothing but an automated response. I checked the boards. Nothing but more people responding that the episode was still broken. I tried watching it again. It was still the wrong episode. So I waited. - Monday March 22, 2010
I checked my email and there was no response from Hulu. I checked the boards. There was no official response. Someone had posted a link to the episode on www.animefreak.tv I assume its a pirated version. I continued to wait. - Wednesday March 24, 2010
Two more episodes of Hikaru no Go appeared in my queue, episodes 35 and 36. Episode 33 is still broken. There is still no response in my email or on the boards. What is going on? Is Hulu not paying attention. Do all our emails just go into their spam folder and get deleted? - Thursday, March 25, 2010
I sent another email. This time I include a screenshot and mention that people in the forums are suggesting piracy as a solution. I get a response.”I’ve passed this issue on to the content team. Thanks for the catch, Ben Acland Hulu” - Wednesday March 31, 2010
Two more episodes of Hikaru no Go appeared in my queue, episodes 37 and 38. Episode 33 is still broken. - Tuesday March 13, 2010 – Episode is Fixed!

I completed the Javascript API for the Bible App. You can now pause, rewind, fast-forward and skip chapters. I will look into completing the other planned updates this weekend.
I had actually completed this awhile ago. When I submitted it to Boxee I made the mistake of using a similar subject and message as my last submission. The reader thought my submission was something he already read. So it sat in his inbox for about 2 weeks. It didn’t he read it till I sent a follow up email.
Lesson Learned
- Don’t be afraid to follow up.
- Put the most important part as the first word in the Subject.
- Don’t overuse form emails.
So I noticed that http://www.clicker.com/ had a good index of FUNimation.com
I had created a JavaScript Helper for my Trust Does FUN application. The Clicker application could reuse this. I emailed the author of the Clicker application and told him about the Helper was available. He seemed interested. I checked the Clicker application recently and FUNimation.com has been enabled as a source!
They seem to have about 31 shows indexed. I tested a couple out and they seem to play fine.
I still intend to get my application working with shows. I don’t think Clicker has everything indexed.
I appreciate comments here or in the Boxee Forums. Thanks.

I have just finished an early build of Bible App. It is available at my Boxee Repository, http://boxee.trustdoestv.com. This application will be an audio and video resource of the Bible. This version provides links to the NIV translation of the Bible at biblegateway.com The books are read by Max McLean. Included are links to every book in the NIV translation. I am really enjoying the NIV translation. The language is easy to follow and very modern. There are no thees and thoughs like in the King James version.
TODO:
1) I need to create a Javascript API for the Flash player. This script is needed so the users can use the Pause, Fast-Forward, Rewind, and Skip buttons. ( Completed )
2) There is a King James translation on biblegateway.com also read by Max McLean.
3) I want to include more sources other than biblegateway.com. I have identified some content already.
- xxxbiblexxx is a channel on Youtube with several books of the New Testament being read. The quality of the audio is very good. The video themselves are not very interesting. It is just a static background image. I have created playlists for his 8 books. With these I can generate RSS feeds for the application.
- thebiblepodcast.org has many books of the old and new testament read by a man named Michael Lee. The audio is very good on his podcast. I may have some difficulty creating links to all the content. There only appears to be one RSS feed.
- The Youtube Bible is a project to get people to video tape themselves reading passages from the King James Bible. There is not much content yet but the content has a human factor. You can actually see the readers. You can put a face and a place with the narration. Creating feeds for this will be slightly more difficult than the xxxbiblexxx Youtube channel. I would have to go through an create playlists for each chapter as they post them. They don’t seem to be organized yet. There is no RSS feed. There is no channel on Youtube yet. The project may also be dead. (I hope not. I may contribute some things myself)
If you have ideas please comment below.

TRUST does FUN is my application for FUNimation.com
It is available at my Boxee Repository, http://boxee.trustdoestv.com I really like FUNimation’s content. The application currently allows you to navigate to videos for several genres:
Action, Adventure, Comedy, Drama, Fantasy, Harem, Horror, Live Action, Magic, Martial Arts, Mecha, Mystery, Romance, Sci-Fi, Supernatural, and Vampires
They have a lot of anime. I am working on a method of providing links to individual shows.
Some of the content on FUNimation.com is rated MA. You must verify your age at FUNimation.com in a web browser before this content can be accessed. Most of the MA rated content is just slightly perverted. But there are a few shows that cross a line and I deem slightly pornographic. Because of this I have rated TRUST does FUN adult. To view this application you have to change your default settings in Boxee.
Settings -> Appearance -> View Options -> Hide Adult Feeds and Applications
I am considering creating a clean version of the TRUST does FUN application that blocks these MA rated shows.
Feel free to comment here or discuss this application in the Boxee forums.

So far Word Press has been really easy. I wonder how well I can setup a landing page though for my Boxee domain.
